Not only has the Covid-19 pandemic taken a toll on the physical health of the world, but it has also had a massive impact on the mental health of the people as well. And, the England cricket team has decided that they will not be fielding some of their marquee players for the two-match Test series against New Zealand.
In fact, there is a report that has stated that the likes of Chris Woakes, Sam Curran, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, and Moeen Ali will not be playing the first Test against New Zealand that will begin on 2nd June 2021.
All these players were a part of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that was suspended midway this year. Another point to note is, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has even banned the word bio bubble from being used as well.
Team Environment to be used instead of bio bubble
And, the ECB has decided that the word ‘Team Environment’ will be used instead of the word ‘Bio Bubble’. And, this decision has been taken to improve the mental well-being of the players. It has also been learnt that the ECB has also told the players to be ready for quarantine in the future as well.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that star New Zealand pacer Trent Boult will not be a part of the New Zealand squad that will take on England in the two-match Test series that begins on 2nd June 2021.
The Chief Executive of New Zealand Cricket, David White has stated that Boult has got a young family to look after, and the left-arm pacer has returned home to see them. White concluded by adding that Boult is a consummate professional and stated that he is sure that Boult will prepare himself and get ready for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) against India on 18th June 2021.
“He’s got a young family and he wanted to come home to see them – we totally support that. He is the consummate professional and we know he will prepare and get ready for the Test Championship final so we’re supportive of him,” said White as quoted by News 18.
