England cricket team has been through a hectic summer, and has been involved in regular cricket since the end of May. The current ODI champions were directly involved into the Ashes just after a couple of weeks from the day they lifted their 1st ever World Cup trophy. There are multi-format players in the English team who have taken the field for them in every format since the start of this year. So after such a long summer English board looks set to give rest to their big players during Kiwi’s Tour.
Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, and Jos Buttler are amongst the players that are expected to be given rest for the Twenty20 series against New Zealand. The tour of New Zealand will get underway with the two T20 warm-up matches starting on October 27 while the first T20I will be played on November 1 in Christchurch. The Brits will also play a couple of Test matches in Mount Maunganui and Hamilton respectively.

Meanwhile, there are reports that England Test skipper Joe Root is determined for his comeback in the T20 squad keeping the upcoming shorter format World Cup in his mind which is going to be held in Australia. Although the board will look to try some fresh legs like Somerset’s powerful wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Banton and Lancashire fast bowler Saqib Mahmood as per reports in Evening Standard.
Banton did exceptionally, opening the batting with Babar Azam in the T20 Blast. Eoin Morgan’s decision over leading the England cricket team in the upcoming T20 World Cup is still pending but the board is still hoping that their ODI World Cup-winning captain has lots of cricket left and can lead their team in the T20 World Cup which is just 13 months away.
Morgan is yet to sign a new contract with Middlesex in the domestic circuit. England are relaxed about the prospect of players missing the New Zealand T20Is, as next year’s late start to the home summer would allow their best cricketers to be able to take part in the entire season of the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL).
