One of the greatest batsmen of the modern-day era Virat Kohli is known to have a strong personality, both on and off-field. His attitude and mental strength to deal with the game has been witnessed by fans on various occasions. However, it’s not all good for everyone every time, and in the same manner, Kohli had also had his share of struggles back in 2014. The Indian skipper opened clearly on how he dealt with depression after having a horrendous tour of England in 2014.
Kohli was not finding himself amid runs as he scored 1, 8, 25, 0, 39, 28, 0, 7, 6, and 20 in five Tests. He averaged a poor 13.50 in 10 innings, which was his lowest involving three or more Test matches. He added that he felt like the ‘loneliest guy in the world’ and that feeling was really not good. He suffered a nightmarish tour due to James Anderson’s pinpoint pace attack and felt like he won’t be able to score ever every morning.

“Yes, I did,” was Kohli’s response when he was asked whether he suffered depression back in the 2014 England tour while speaking to former England first-class cricketer and commentator Nicholas on his podcast “Not Just Cricket.”
“It’s not a great feeling to wake up knowing that you won’t be able to score runs, and I think all batsmen have felt that at some stage that you are not in control of anything at all,” he added.
You just don’t know how to get over it: Kohli
The King hit back to form during the tour of Australia where he scored 692 runs in the Test series. He admitted that though there were supportive people in his life back then, he felt like loneliest ever. He added that professional help was needed while battling that toughest phase of his life.
“You just don’t understand how to get over it. That was a phase when I literally couldn’t do anything to overturn things. I felt like I was the loneliest guy in the world,” reckoned Kohli.
