Manoj Tiwary, the veteran Bengal cricketer, was taken aback after Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel were overlooked for India’s upcoming tour of Australia. Both Yadav and Patel have been performing to the best of their potential in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Even as Surya is playing for Mumbai Indians (MI), Patel is a part of the Delhi Capitals (DC), led by Shreyas Iyer.
Surya has batted at number three and has carried on the good work done by the Mumbai openers. He has scored runs and maintained a decent tempo as well. MI are sitting pretty on top of the points table and Surya has contributed quite a bit to their success. Axar, on the other hand, has been the most economical bowler for the Capitals, conceding runs at less than a run-a-ball.

In Sharjah, Patel also showed that he can use the long handle to good effect. There, he smashed Ravindra Jadeja to the cleaners taking his team over the finishing line. As far as Team India are concerned, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the T20I, Test and ODI squads on Monday, October 26.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee met via video-conference on Monday to select the Indian Cricket Team for the upcoming Tour of Australia. Team India will take part in three T20Is, three ODIs and four Test matches against Australia,” a BCCI statement was quoted as saying.
Tiwary, who last played for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in IPL 2018, felt for Surya and Axar. Tiwary doesn’t believe that they were born in the wrong era. Rather he reckons that the duo has all the ability to give tough competition to the others at the highest level.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “Hard luck @akshar2026 and @surya_14kumar on not making it to the indian team dis time. Some years down d line, few cosy group of people will say that u both were born/played at d wrong Era but i would say u cud have easily played along side ur competitors.”
