Geoffrey Boycott and Andrew Strauss, the two former England captains have been conferred Knighthoods in Ex-Prime Minister Theresa May Honors list. May stepped down from her services earlier this year. She has been a cricket lover for long who tracked her membership to MCC last year.
Few instances have come where she has been seen taking pleasure around the cricket matches in her free time. These two former players are considered to be as one of the most successful cricketers in the history of cricket that England has ever produced. The duo has also been the in charge of the team as a captain at different levels during their career.
Boycott and Strauss are the two players out of the 14 who have played more than 100 Test matches for their nation. Andrew Strauss, who resigned from the post of director of England in 2018, comes under the most respectable personalities of the cricket as well. Strauss was a great captain who won two Ashes series for the nation as well as helped England in claiming the 1st position in the Tests, during his tenure of captaincy.
Strauss set up a foundation on her wife’s name i.e- Ruth Strauss foundation that collects money for treating the different forms of cancer and cancer-prone people. This foundation was laid, back in 2018 after the death of the 42-year-old cricketer’s wife who lost the battle against cancer.
Geoffrey Boycott ended his career with 8114 runs that he got in 108 Test matches and remained the leading scorer for a long time in Test cricket. He is one amongst the four players who have got more than 150 first-class centuries under his belt whereas Andrew Strauss got 7037 runs in 100 matches while playing for England.
