The second wave of COVID-19 has possibly arrived in India. March 26 witnessed a whopping 60,000 new cases even as Maharashtra is at the centre stage of it all. Like it was last year, even the athletes are getting infected and this time around, it is the heartthrob of the nation, Sachin Tendulkar. The man himself confirmed on Saturday morning that he has been tested positive for the virus and has got mild symptoms.
Sachin was recently involved in the Road Safety World Series which took place in Raipur. The legendary cricketers from different countries turned back the clock taking the field again. Tendulkar led the India Legends to the title as they defeated Sri Lanka in the final which was in a way, a repeat of the World Cup 2011 title clash.
The 47-year-old got himself tested after returning to Mumbai from Raipur and his test results came positive. Moreover, he also has mild symptoms and is currently in isolation according to the advise from his doctors. Sachin Tendulkar himself took to Twitter to share the news and soon, messages flooded in on social media wishing him a speedy recovery.
âI have been testing myself and taking all the recommended precautions to ensure Covid is kept at bay. However, Iâve tested positive today following mild symptoms. All others at home have tested negative. Iâve quarantined myself at home and am following all the necessary protocols as advised by my doctors. I want to thank all the healthcare professionals who are supporting me and many others across the country. Take care all of you,â his statement read.
