It seems that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has gripped the cricket fraternity in Pakistan. A few days back, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was forced to postpone the 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for an indefinite time as seven positive coronavirus cases were detected among the players and the support staff of PSL 2021.
This was followed by a Pakistani cricketer returning a positive covid-19 result before the team was supposed to assemble for the training camp in view of the upcoming tours of Zimbabwe and South Africa. It is now learned that World Cup-winning captain and the country’s current Prime Minister Imran Khan has tested positive for COVID-19.
The news came as a shocker for the people across the globe as just a day before, on March 19, Imran was quite active as he paid a visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take a tour of Malakand University where inaugurated a new academic block. The former cricket legend had also addressed a gathering of students in the University and had wished them all the best for their future endeavors. It is also reported that Khan had visited the Swat Motorway, on the same day, to inaugurate the Swat Expressway Tunnels.
Imran Khan self-isolates himself at his home
Also, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan tested positive for coronavirus just two days after he had taken the first dose of the vaccine as part of the nationwide anti-coronavirus vaccination campaign which is currently in its first phase in the country. The news of Imran Khan testing positive for the Covid-19 was revealed by Dr. Faisal Sultan. Taking to his official Twitter handle, Dr. Faisal informed that the PM has contracted the deadly virus and in the same light, has self-quarantined himself at his home.
“PM Imran Khan has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating at home” Dr. Faisal Sultan tweeted.
As soon as the news of Imran contracting the deadly Covid-19 virus went viral on social media, Twitter got flooded with good wishes and Get Well Soon messages from all over the cricket fraternity. Many of the veteran cricketers including current and former took to their official handle to send good wishes to one of the best captains of his era.
