The second edition of the Global T20 Canada is up and running and some of the top players across the world have already lit up the tournament. The star attraction Yuvraj Singh is leading the Toronto Nationals, the team which lost their first match comfortably. But they came back stunningly in their next game to defeat the Edmonton Royals from nowhere courtesy Manpreet Gony’s 12-ball 33-run blitz.
Even Yuvraj Singh rolled back the clock with his batting. He smashed 35 runs in just 21 deliveries to keep the team in the hunt after coming out to bat at number four at 29/2 in the fourth over. The southpaw got off the mark with a boundary but then took his time stitching a partnership with Heinrich Klaasen. After getting his eye in, Yuvraj attacked Shadab Khan who is considered one of the best spinners in Pakistan.
Moreover, one of the sixes Yuvraj Singh hit off him was absolutely flat. The incident took place in the ninth over of the innings when the Toronto Nationals’ skipper was looking to take on the leg-spinner. In an attempt to fire the ball quick, Shadab dished out a low full toss and Yuvraj was up for the challenge. With his bottom hand coming into play, Yuvraj just nonchalantly whipped the ball over long-on for a six.
Even Shadab Khan was stunned with the shot even as the Indian fans loved Yuvraj’s hitting and they went berserk after watching the vintage cricketer bat.

Gony shines in a thrilling win
Manpreet Gony, another former Indian cricketer, shined with the bat on the day as he won the match for the Nationals from nowhere. Walking in at 124/6 in the 14th over, the Toronto Nationals looked down and out as they soon slumped to 125/7. But Manpreet Gony had other ideas. He attacked the opposition bowlers from word go to slam 33 off just 12 deliveries with three sixes and as many fours.
Though he got out with the team needing 27 runs to win, Gony’s efforts had ensured that the team would win the game by then. With no pressure of the required rate, the tail-enders scored the remaining runs as the Nationals registered their first win of the season.
