Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith on Saturday tied the knot with Romy Lanfranchi and shared a picture from the auspicious occasion on Twitter. The 38-year-old former left-hand batsman who retired in 2014 was earlier married to Irish pop singer Morgan Deane but got separated in the same year. He has two kids – Cadence, seven, and Carter, six, from the previous partnership. Smith also has a two-year-old son from Romy named Sebastien.
Smith, who established himself as one of South Africa’s best captains and batsmen, captioned his wedding picture, “2 November was an incredible day!!” He was engaged with Romy last year and finally, the duo got hitched. The former cricketer also said on Instagram about the wedding is Saturday after shared a picture last week with his 239,000 followers of him and Romy hugging each other. He captioned it “3 sleeps”, along with a ring and a heart emoji.
The marriage also incidentally took place on the day when South Africa won the Rugby World Cup – their third since 1995 – beating England in the final and it made the occasion even sweeter. Three years ago, Romy told reporters that she was completely bowled over when she first met Graeme Smith who she found very down-to-earth. “He’s a stable person and we have the same values and interests,” Romy had said then.
2 November was an incredible day!!❤️

He has the highest score of 277 in the longest format while in the ODIs, the former opener made the highest score of 141. I am not often at a loss for words, but today I am. There are no words to describe the perfection of our special day. To say everything exceeded all our expectations is an understatement to say the least. We cannot thank all our family, friends, venue hosts and incredible service providers enough. My cup runneth over. That is all ❤️
