If everything had stayed on course, Indian cricket players along with the world’s leading players and T20 specialists would’ve at this stage been finalizing their preparations for the coming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Instead, as we are now battling a much bigger threat in the name of novel Coronavirus, players have been forced to take a break from practice and playing matches.
At this point, players are sharing awareness messages to their followers on social media on how to be prepared to stave off illness from the deadly virus, even as the Indian government is constantly issuing advisories and measures related to tackling its spread. Among the scepticism, players are putting out their day-to-day routines on social media to engage with their fans.
Now, Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer put out a post on Instagram where he is flexing an arm and taking a selfie. But in another photo on the post, Iyer shows that the arm is of India all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

However, since the two players were in close proximity, Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul wrote a comment “Guys, wash your hands,” on the post, advising the duo to practice ‘social distancing’ in the current atmosphere. India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal too joined the banter and left a comment on the post.
The players would’ve been part of the Indian team which was slated to play South Africa in the three-match ODI series, the first of which was washed out in Dharamshala on March 12. The teams had travelled to Lucknow for the second ODI which was to be held on March 15 and after reviewing the situation in the wake of the spread of Coronavirus, BCCI and CSA suspended the series.
Indian Premier League which was earlier scheduled to start from March 29 has been pushed back to April 15. The cricket board has adopted to wait and then announce the new schedule of the matches and under what conditions, if possible, will the league be played.
