Virender Sehwag was a revelation in Test matches. His aggressive batting and taking on the fast bowlers from the get-go, helped Indian team immensely as it put the opposition in pressure from the start. No matter what the purists thought of his non-existent feet movement and unorthodox shots, Sehwag made a name for himself in a format where he shouldn’t have succeeded.
What Sehwag loved was taking on spinners of all kinds and he had a big disdain for off-spinners. He was the only Indian batsman to pick Ajantha Mendis easily on that disastrous 2008 tours of Sri Lanka. As mentioned by Ravi Ashwin on a YouTube show, Sehwag didn’t consider off-spinners as bowlers and said that they shouldn’t be respected at all.
Recently, Sehwag iterated that fact when he shared a TV commercial for an adhesive and mentioned in the tweet that while he had been hitting the spinners for 14-15 years, this product had been fixing things for well over 60 years. “Maine toh bas 14-15 saal spinners ko Chipkaya, par yeh to 60 saal se Chipka rahe hain! (I just smashed spinners for 14-15 years, but this adhesive has fixed things for past 60 years),” Sehwag said on Twitter.

This claim of his didn’t go unnoticed as his India teammate Harbhajan Singh was quick to quip in Sehwag’s big statement. He tweeted that he knew that Sehwag averaged 91 against the Pakistan team, but then not all spinners were Pakistanis. He posted “Viru teri Pakistan ke khilaaf average 91 thi, par har spinner Pakistani nahi hota. (Your average was 91 against Pakistan but not every spinner is a Pakistani).”

Harbhajan Singh is seemingly in the mood to take the mickey out of fellow cricketers these days. Earlier he had taken a dig at former Australia captain Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist was one of Punjab offie’s victims when he became the first Indian bowler to take a Test hat-trick in 2001. He had picked Ponting, Gilchrist, and Warne to make history.
However, Gilchrist had mentioned that if there was DRS at that time, he would have been not out as he had a big inside edge on the ball. Harbhajan took offense to this and asked him to stop crying and that he wouldn’t have survived for long even if he had made past the first ball.
