The 2020 edition of the Pakistan Super League has reached its business end and we are down to the semi-finals stage. In the wake of the coronavirus threat, the Pakistan Cricket Board was forced to rejig the format and reduce the playing days by four.
Consequently, the initial format of playing the playoffs was replaced with the traditional semi-finals- both of which will be played on March 17th. Due to the COVID-19 threat, a plethora of overseas cricketers has left the tournament midway including Australian swashbuckling opener Chris Lynn, who played his last game against Multan Sultans on Sunday.
Lynn, who is plying his trade for Lahore Qalandars in the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League, played a whirlwind knock of 113 off 55 balls- an innings which included 12 fours and eight Brobdingnagian sixes- to help his side overhaul the total of 187, set by Multan Sultans, and pave way for the elusive semi-final spot.
Chris Lynn won’t feature in the semi-finals of PSL 2020
Post the innings, Chris Lynn was asked as to who are the three Pakistani bowlers, in his opinion, that will go and play for a long time for their country and the Queenslander choose Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Dil, bar Hussain as the “three quality bowlers who can play for Pakistan for a long time”.
Lynn is playing alongside Rauf, Afridi and Dilbar Hussain in the PSL. While the left-armer Afarmhas claimed 13 wickets in nine games at an average of 18.92, Rauf hasn’t been able to carry his Big Bash form into the PSL, and ha managed just three wickets in five games at an average of 64.66. Dilbar Hussain, meanwhile, has claimed seven wickets in eight matches at an average of 27.
“Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Dilbar Hussain are three quality bowlers who can play for Pakistan for a long time so if one of the boys for boy’sn the match then as [the] Qalandars, we are pretty happy,” Lynn was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars will be without the services of the Australian opener in their semi-final clash against Karachi Kings, as he is set to return to his country in the wake of the rising coronavirus threat.
