India saw a memorable day in the game of cricket as Virat Kohli’s men won a thrilling decider against the West Indies in Cuttack to bag the ODI series 2-1 after coming from behind. The hosts’ lower order led by Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur finished off things after captain Kohli got dismissed with just 30 runs needed. But the duo finished off the proceedings in style, taking just two-and-half overs.
However, the jubilant Indian fans were disappointed when they saw ace commentator speaking to Jadeja after the match in Hindi. He still asked Thakur his questions about their on-field heroics in English but when it came to Jadeja, he shifted to Hindi to ask what was going in his mind when he lost his skipper.
The spinning-all-rounder, who remained not out on 39 in 31 balls, started responding to Bhogle in Hindi but changed to English midway. Realizing that the player is comfortable conversing in English, Bhogle then also continued in the same language.

It was then that the fans asked Bhogle the reason for speaking with Jadeja in Hindi initially. The commentator decided to respond to the query and explained his stand in a tweet.
“Okay, since I have been flooded with responses on this…. In a post match presentation, you always go in the language the player is most comfortable in. I’ve known Jadeja for 10 yrs now and so began in his language. The moment he indicated he was good to go in English, I shifted,” the 58-year-old said.

Jadeja, meanwhile, told Bhogle that his plan was to play every delivery on its merit as the ball was coming onto the bat well. He also asked his junior partner Thakur not to play silly shots and time it properly. Thakur scored 17 not out in just six balls and his knock included two boundaries and a six.
India lost the first match of the series against a strong West Indian batting display in Chennai but came back strongly to win the next two games to win their second successive ODI series over the Caribbeans this year.
