Fast-bowler Hasan Ali has hilariously recreated the viral “pawri” meme with the entire Pakistan team after beating South Africa in the third and final T20I at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday. Pakistan thrashed the visitors by four wickets to seal the three-match series 2-1 with Hasan Ali playing an important all-round role.
Asked to bat first, South Africa started disastrously but recovered to post a competitive total of 164 for 8. The Proteas lost three wickets inside the powerplay and soon found themselves reeling at 65 for 7 in the 11th over. The 150-run mark was looking like a distant dream at that stage but David Miller’s unbeaten fifty helped them post a good total.
Miller scored an unbeaten 85 off just 45 balls with the help of 5 fours and seven sixes. For Pakistan, Zahid Mahmood was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up two wickets while Hasan and Mohammad Nawaz picked two wickets apiece. With the bat, Pakistan chased down the total in the 19th over. Captain Babar Azam and opener Mohammad Rizwan were the big contributors for the hosts, scoring 44 and 42, respectively.
Hasan also played a crucial role in the win as his unbeaten knock of 20 off just 7 balls helped Pakistan chase down the total. The series-clinching triumph also made Pakistan the first-ever team to win 100 T20Is.
‘Pawri kar rhe hain’ by Hasan Ali and teammates
Hasan Ali and his teammates celebrated the series win in style. The occasions called for big celebrations and Hasan made sure that he and his mates make the moment special. The entire Pakistan team hilariously mimicked the viral Internet video that has taken Pakistanis and as well as entire India by storm.
In a video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the win, Hasan can be seen recreating the “pawri” meme as his team cheers on with the winning trophy in the background.
“Yeh main hoon, yeh meri team hai, aur hum series jeet gaye hain aur hum pawri kar rahe hain (This is me, This is my team, we have won the series, and we are partying),” said Hasan Ali in the video.
