Since breaking into the national side, Virat Kohli has emerged as one of the most consistent batsmen across the globe. Be it with the red ball or the white ball, the current Indian skipper has proved his mettle in all formats of the game and his staggering record speaks for his worth. In a career spanning over 248 ODIs, the 31-year-old has amassed 11867 runs including 43 tons and 58 half-centuries. He also has 7240 and 2794 runs in Tests and T20Is respectively.
The Delhi batsman is the forerunner to break Sachin Tendulkar‘s record of smashing most centuries in international cricket. Due to his technique, consistency and on-field aggression, Kohli has undoubtedly etched his name into the record books. He also has gained a lot of praise from the cricket fraternity for his dedication and commitment on the field.
Many cricketers have lauded Kohli in the past and joining the list now is South African pacer Kagiso Rabada. The speedster revealed that Kohli pushes him to give his best on the field. Rabada also said that he has the utmost respect for the Indian skipper due to his sheer consistency across all formats as Kohli averages over 50 in all three formats of the game.
Both Rabada and Kohli have enjoyed many on-field battles. When the South African was asked to name a cricketer who has pushed him to do his bests, Kagiso picked Virat Kohli.
“If you look at one day cricket, I’d say Virat Kohli is the most consistent performer, he is consistent in Test cricket as well.
“I even like the work of Ben Stokes, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson,” said Rabada on a chat show as quoted by Outlook.
‘Winning a World Cup would be amazing’: Kagiso Rabada
Similar to Kohli, Rabada also flaunts an impressive record in all formats of the game. The 24-year-old has taken 197 wickets from 43 Tests and he has scalped 117 ODI wickets in 75 matches. He also has 30 T20I wickets to his name in 24 games.
Since breaking into the national side in 2015, Rabada has gained many accolades but he feels that he always tries to get better and his ultimate dream is to win a World Cup.
“Well, it was an ambition of mine to be where I am today. So glad to have reached that pinnacle. All I want to do now is focus on a few things that would make me play better, win a World Cup, that’d be amazing,” said Rabada.
