The film traces back all the struggles and tough situations the team in 1983 had to go through. Everything from the label of underdogs being given to the side to the semi-finals being regarded as a walk-over for the English team will be portrayed in the film.
As reported by Filmfare, Kapil Dev after the release of the first look of Ranveer playing Kapil was released on his birthday, the legendary cricketer had plenty of praise for the actor. Kapil said that Ranveer, in the pursuit to perfect his style of play and bring it as close to Kapil’s, would practice 8 hours a day, even in intense heat.
He said, “I’d see him (Ranveer Singh) work so hard on bowling, he’d bowl and play for eight hours constantly to understand the rhythm, and would do so in the peak of summer.”
Kapil even said that Ranveer’s training schedule was harder than those who play the sport professionally. He also had concerns regarding the actor’s fitness because straining the body so hard can be taxing for professionals. Kapil told, “In such conditions, even cricketers avoid training to prevent injuries. So, I feared for his fitness.”
Ranveer Singh stayed with Kapil Dev for 10 full days
The legendary cricketer also brought to light the fact that in an attempt to study his daily routine, lifestyle, pronunciation and actions, Ranveer stayed with him for 10 full days. All this while, he would keep a close eye on what the cricketer was doing and more importantly how was he doing it.
Kapil Dev’s journey from rags to riches, which many dream of seeing on the big screen along with the struggle of the team that was in England in 83 will all be a part of the film. One of the main talking points that will be in focus will be the recreation of one of the greatest innings of Kapil.
