Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan, who also happened to be an ace spin-all-rounder, is in fine form in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) with the ball. Playing for Adelaide Strikers, the leg-spinner is his team’s leading wicket-taker with 12 scalps and has also played some handy innings with the bat.
Rashid also scripted a hat-trick against Sydney Sixers in Adelaide on Wednesday even though it could not earn his side a win. In a split feat, Rashid dismissed James Vince, Jack Edwards and Jordan Silk. But Rashid’s exploits with the ball remained ignored as the BBL’s official Twitter handle took to troll him for his duck in the match.
Rashid Khan got out on the second ball he faced
Rashid, who also turned heads around during the tournament with his innovative ‘camel’ bat that has two humps on its back, got dismissed in just the second ball that he faced against the Sixers and the Strikers were all out for 135 inside 20 overs.
Soon after, the BBL posted a tweet saying: “We are sorry to inform you that there will be no unmissable Rashid Khan batting highlights from today’s match. He’s out for a duck.”

This is the second time that Rashid Khan failed to score a run in this year’s BBL. In his first game which was abandoned, Rashid had fallen for a golden duck against Sydney Thunder in Canberra. The game in Adelaide was Rashid’s 200th T20 and he has a strike rate of over 151 in the format. The right-hander has four fifties in ODIs and one in Tests.
With their two-wicket loss to the Sixers, Strikers are now at the fourth position in the points table with seven from as many games. They have won three, lost three while one was without a result.
Rashid Khan is set to play in the Indian Premier League in a few months where he will turn up for his side Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 2016 champions retained the ace spinner in their squad this year. The Sunrisers remained one of the lowest-spending franchises in this year’s auction as they shelled out less than Rs 7 crore to buy seven players.
