The coronavirus threat has spread across the globe and most of the countries are going through a lockdown completely. India is serving a 21-day lockdown until April 14 which was imposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There are certain speculations which suggest that the lockdown could be extended until the end of this month.
With this current situation developing across the globe, the citizens have been advised to stay back at home and not leave their houses. Around 7,000 people have been affected by the COVID-19 in India, while more than 220 people have died due to this disease.
As the country has gone into complete lockdown, police have been on the road to restrict the movement of the public around the cities and other places. However, Indian cricketer Rishi Dhawan was recently fined by the cops for violating the protocol laid down by the government.
Rishi Dhawan was going to bank
Himachal Pradesh all-rounder Rishi Dhawan was caught by the police as he was on his way to the bank. The player was charged with a fine of INR 500 as he didn’t have the vehicle pass. According to the reports in Times of India, Dhawan had come out during the relaxation period between 10 AM and 1 PM.
However, as he didn’t have the vehicle pass, the police fined him. He was driving his private car when he was stopped by the police. It was also reported that Rishi Dhawan paid the fine on the spot.
Rishi Dhawan has represented Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians in the IPL. His strong performances for India A had also earned him a spot in the Indian squad back in 2016. He has played three ODIs, scoring 12 runs and picking up one wicket. He has also played a lone T20I.
In domestic cricket, he has been a well-known player for quite some time now. Rishi Dhawan has played 79 first-class matches scoring 3,702 runs at an average of 41.13 and has picked up 308 wickets with an average of 26.87. His record in List A cricket is also quite good. He has played 96 matches in the format and scored 1777 runs with an average of 34.17. In the bowling department, he has 125 scalps to his name.
