Every cricketer dreams to play in Indian Premier League for once in their professional career as it is one of the biggest T20 tournament across the globe. However, it is not an easy task to get there name among those, who play in this prestigious league. Now, Tino Best, the former West Indies cricketer has opened up saying over the same as he never got an opportunity to ply his trade in the IPL. However, now he wants his son to fulfil his dream.
Best made his debut back in 2003 for West Indies, and donned the national jersey in 25 Tests, 26 ODIs and 6 T20Is. He was a quick bowler of his time as he used to bowl at a speed of and around 140 km/hr that used to create problems for the batsmen.
The right-hander grabbed a total of 97 wickets across all the formats in his short career. Later on, he bid adieu to international cricket in 2016. And, since then he is operating as a freelance cricketer. At the moment, he is currently playing for West Indies Legends in Road Safety World Series 2020 that is being played in India.
Tino Best says he is heartbroken about never being able to play in IPL
In a recent interview, Tino Best said that he is still heartbroken that he never got an opportunity to play in the Indian Premier League. He added that his son also likes IPL, who is 20-year-old. As per him, his son should play in that T20 tournament.
But, he will have to push himself to a level that will make him eligible to play in Indian Premier League as well as for West Indies. Best feels that IPL is arguably one of the best T20 tournament. He also appreciated the work done by India, who did an amazing work in creating such a big league that has changed the dimensions of world cricket to an extent.
“I am still heartbroken. I have never got the opportunity to play in the IPL but, I love the IPL, my son loves it. My 20-year-old son. Yes, 20-year-old son. So hopefully he can push and get to this level of the IPL, playing for West Indies, make a name for himself and go on to do better things but IPL is arguably the benchmark of T20, everyone wants to play in it and I think that India has done a tremendous job in selectifying that brand of cricket that whole world loves,” said Tino Best as quoted by Republic TV.
