The Australian state of New South Wales is currently experiencing one of its worst bushfire seasons, which has seen blazes raging across the country, including the outskirts of Sydney. At least 18 people have died in the devastating bushfires in the country’s history and the state of New South Wales has declared an emergency and could start evacuation from the fire-ridden areas as the emergency crew continues to battle the deadly blazes and brace for more devastation in the coming week. With the weather set to plummet in the coming days, the emergency will be in effect from Friday morning.
Incidentally, Australia and New Zealand will lock horns in the traditional New Year Test at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground from January 03, and in a bid to mark their tributes for the emergency crew who are battling day and night from the devastating bushfires, both the sides’ will be bracing the delays during the game, should the smoke affect the air quality.
Such has been the devastation of the bushfires, that the build-up to the Pink Test hasn’t really created any buzz as everyone- including the cricketers- hope and pray in the wake of the alarming situation.
David Warner shares a heartfelt message for the emergency crew
Everyone is talking about the devastation caused by the deadly fires, and on Thursday, the Australian opener David Warner shared a photo that firmly puts into context the gravity of the situation.
The former Australian vice-captain shared a heartfelt message for all those who have lost their loved ones in the devastation caused by the whirlwind fire, while also saluting the volunteers for the bravery that they continue to show every day while fighting the fires to ensure that normal Australians like him can continue with their lives safely.
Warner wrote, “I just saw this pic and I’m still in shock. When we go out to play tomorrow, not just the Australian team, but New Zealand as well, we never forget how privileged we are to live where we do and to do what we do. My heart, my family’s heart, are with you. These fires are beyond words. To every Firefighter, volunteer to every family, we are with you. You are the real heroes. You do us proud.”
