The whole world was taken by storm due to India’s ‘Mauka Mauka’ advertisement during the 2015 World Cup. Indian fans were gaga over the advertisement’s concept and the ‘Mauka Mauka’ chant was heard at every nook and corner during the mega-event. Contrary to Indian fans, the advertisement irked up fans of many other countries.
After the extensive use of ‘Mauka Mauka’ campaign by Indian broadcasters, fans from Pakistan as well as Bangladesh were left infuriated. India thumped Bangladesh by 109 runs in the second quarter-final of the World Cup and the ‘Mauka Mauka’ chant started doing rounds in no time. However, Bangladesh avenged the loss and clinched subsequent ODI series by a 2-1 margin.
After Bangladesh won the series, Bangladesh fans started singing ‘Mauka Mauka’ when Team India was walking towards the dressing room. Bangladesh’s Nasir Hossan, in a Facebook live session with Cricfrenzy, recalled how he enjoyed the moment.
“I felt very good about that, when the whole India team was going towards the dressing room [ with their head lowered down] the whole gallery was chanting ‘mauka mauka’,” Nasir said.
I don’t have any hard feelings against Kohli: Nasir Hossain
Nasir also reminisced taking the prized wicket of Virat Kohli. He termed Kohli’s dismissal as the turning point of the match. As per Nasir, he had no hard feelings against the prolific Indian batsman as he had played against Kohli at the Under-19 level.
Nasir trapped Kohli in front as the right-hander was plumb in the middle. Kohli, after being pushed on the backfoot, was trapped when the ball hit his pads. Kohli looked unhappy after the umpire raised his finger and that gave the rise to a bit of on-field tussle between him and Nasir. A few stares were exchanged and Kohli got a rather hostile farewell after getting dismissed.
“I’ve played against Kohli in the Under-19 and he is like this from that time. We try to be very aggressive on the field that might have happened on that day,’’ said Nasir.
‘’I don’t have any hard feelings against him. I didn’t sledge him or anything but it is true that I was very happy to get his wicket. Because we were in need of his wicket very much,” he added.
