The feud between former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq is getting intense day-by-day as the two aren’t leaving any chances to make some serious allegations on each other and put the other person down. Amir had left the entire cricket fraternity stunned with his decision of taking abrupt retirement from the game at the age of 28.
The left-arm quick had accused the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq of mentally harassing him and unnecessarily dropping from the playing XI. The head coach had finally broken his silence on the whole issue by stating that he didn’t have any grudges with Amir and the pacer was purely dropped for his poor form.
“There was talk about Waqar Younis related to Amir but there is no truth in it at all. There were six [association] coaches as selectors, me as chief selector, and then there was a captain. So this is absolutely not possible, [the idea] that one person out of all could have influenced the decision,” Misbah had said.
“Nobody was supporting his selection on the basis of performance. I have no idea why he made up everything and tried to give this whole scenario a context that is out of proportion. For him, it was a simple method: go back and prove his form and get back in the team and everything else is irrelevant,” he had added.
Coaching is an entirely different thing, Amir takes a jibe at Misbah-ul-Haq
However, these statements by the former Pakistan captain didn’t go well with Mohammad Amir as he again interacted with the media to reveal that he was never dropped from the team because of his poor form. He also accused the team management of not revealing the whole facts to the media.
“I was not dropped from the side because of my performance. What they [Misbah and Waqar] say on media is different from the actual facts,” said Amir as quoted by Cricket Pakistan. Further, the 28-year-old took a sly dig at Misbah and bowling coach Waqar Younis as he reckoned that though both are great cricketers, they haven’t been able to essay the job of a coach correctly.
Mohammad Amir also clarified that he doesn’t want PCB to expel both the veterans but he can’t play with them in the same team. “Waqar Younis is a legend while Misbahul Haq was a great captain but coaching is an entirely different thing. You have to learn and get the necessary education regarding coaching before joining this field.
“I’m not saying that PCB should remove them from their respective roles but I can’t play for the national side with the current mindset of the coaching staff,” Mohammad Amir concluded.
