Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are set to lock horns for the second time in the ongoing IPL season on Thursday. Both the teams, especially KXIP, will be looking for a victory with the tournament entering its second half. Ahead of the clash, the skippers from both the sides, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul went live for Puma India on Instagram and had a candid conversation.
The duo spoke about a lot of things on and off the field and were in a lighter mood as well. Among a plethora of questions, they were asked about one rule they would like to change in T20 cricket. Replying to this question, KL Rahul hilariously asked IPL to ban players like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers who are in exceptional form in this season.
Rather De Villiers is coming off a sensational 73* off just 33 balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the same venue where RCB and KXIP are set to face each other. “To start off, I think I would ask IPL to ban you and AB for next year. Once you have achieved a certain amount of runs, I think, the people should say ‘it’s enough’. Once you get 5,000 runs it’s enough, now you guys let the others do the work,” Rahul told Kohli during the candid convo.
KL Rahul wants more runs for longest sixes
However, on a serious note, KL Rahul felt that the sixes travelling more than 100 metre distance should be awarded more runs. Virat Kohli though was quite circumspect and hilariously said that his bowlers will give him a harsh look in the dressing room if he agrees with KXIP skipper. From captain’s perspective, Kohli felt that the players should be allowed to review wides and waist-high full tosses.
“If I say yes to what you said, the bowlers are going to give me looks in the change room. I am going to say as captain, I would like to have the ability to review a wide, or a no-ball which could be a waist-high full-toss. We have seen historically how big these small things can be, in such a high-profile IPL and T20 cricket,” he added.
