The 7th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Region Final 2019 will be played between Canada and Cayman Islands at the White Hill Field in Sandys Parish, Hamilton.
The match starts at 11:00 AM local time (7:30 PM IST) (2:00 PM GMT).
Canada justified the tag of being favourites to qualify from the Americas Region Final for the T20 World Cup qualifiers. They are the only team to not lose a game in this tournament thus far. Canada got better of the Cayman Islands by a huge margin in the first match. The rain gods cost Canada one point. Playing against Bermuda, the Canada side were 40/0 in four overs chasing a target of 83 in 16 overs.
Canada were only one over away from winning that fixture as they were well ahead of the DLS par score. They defeated the USA on Wednesday by chasing down 145 to firm their position on top of the table. Canada will now face the Cayman Islands who have done well in the last couple of matches without a win. Cayman did threaten the USA in the defence of 68 and picked up early wickets against Bermuda while defending 116.
The weather in Sandys Parish doesn’t provide any pleasant news for the matches to be played on 22nd August. Thunderstorms are predicted in the weather forecast. This could see around 15-30% chances of rain during the match timings for the first game of the day.
All the remaining matches of the tournament have been moved from National Stadium to the White Hill Field. The track here in Sandys Parish for the morning matches has a bit of moisture making it little sticky. Teams might prefer to bowl first in these conditions as batting gets little easier while chasing.

Dilon Heyliger showed a glimpse of his ability during the recently conclude GT20 Canada. He has already proved his skill across the three games in this tournament. Heyliger took six wickets including a 4-wicket haul and also scored 34 runs without being dismissed. Gregory Strydom might have bagged ducks in the previous two matches. But that does not reduce the fact of him being the most trustable batsman in the Cayman Islands line-up.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Captain – Navneet Dhaliwal, Dilon Heyliger, Nitish Kumar, Luke Harrington Myers
Vice-captain – Chad Hauptfleisch, Saad bin Zafar, Romesh Eranga, Gregory Strydom
Nitish Kumar struck 41 in the game against the Cayman Islands. He didn’t get a chance to bat against Bermuda but scored 14 runs and took a wicket against the USA. Romesh Eranga has been quite consistent with his wicket-taking ability and can be picked as vice-captain.
Suggested Playing XI for Head to Head/Small Leagues:
Keeper – Chad Hauptfleisch
Batsmen – Nitish Kumar, Sacha DeAlwis, Navneet Dhaliwal (C), Rizwan Cheema
All-Rounders – Luke Harrington Myers, Alistair Ifill
Bowlers – Romesh Eranga, Dilon Heyliger (VC), Nikhil Dutta, Troy Taylor
Suggested Playing XI for Grand Leagues/Mega Leagues:
Keeper – Chad Hauptfleisch
Batsmen – Rodrigo Thomas, Nitish Kumar (C), Darren Cato
All-Rounders – Luke Harrington Myers (VC), Alistair Ifill, Conroy Wright
Bowlers – Romesh Eranga, Dilon Heyliger, Troy Taylor, Saad bin Zafar
As many as four Canada players in the bowlers’ category are good enough to make it to every fantasy team – Romesh Eranga, Dilon Heyliger, Nikhil Dutta and Saad bin Zafar. Eranga is someone who picks up wickets in a heap. The batting potential of Heyliger and Saad Zafar could be utilized by their team. This meant Dutta could be left out but his experience could count in the end.
Canada is expected to register a big win over the Cayman Islands for the 2nd time in a row.
