The second semifinal of the World Cup 2019 will see bitter rivals – Australia and England lock horns against each other at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Both the teams will be desperate to win the game and enter the final where they will take on New Zealand who beat India in the first semifinal. Going by the current form and the overall record in the World Cup, Australia are the favourites.
Australia are not only the defending champions but are also the most successful team in the history of the World Cup. The team from Down Under have won the mega event a record five times and will be fancying their chances of adding another to their tally. As far as England are concerned, they are playing their first World Cup semifinal since 1992. The hosts have done exceedingly well in the last four years and are definitely capable of beating the reigning champions.
Both the teams are coming into this game on the back of contrasting results. While Australia lost to South Africa in their last group game, England beat New Zealand to make it to the knockouts. But before that Australia had thrashed England by 64 runs in the group stage. Thus number and statistics are not going to make much difference in the big clash.
