The day has finally arrived. The cricketing world will finally see a new team becoming a world champion when England and New Zealand fight out in the final of the World Cup 2019 at Lord’s, London. Both the teams are yet to win the trophy even once although both of them have experienced playing in the final. While the hosts have played three finals with the last one coming way back in 1992, New Zealand have played one thus far.
This is the second time England and New Zealand will take on each other in this tournament. The first time they met, it was a must-win clash for England. The hosts needed to beat the Black Caps to enter the semi-final and they put up a dominating performance. The Eoin Morgan-led side thrashed the Kane Williamson-led side by 119 runs. After scoring 305, England bowled out the Black Caps for 186.
However, the past results are unlikely to make much of a difference when both the teams take the field at Lord’s. New Zealand made it to the final with a thrilling win over pre-tournament favourites and league table toppers India. On a tricky Manchester track, the Kiwis outplayed India with both bat and ball to make it to their second World Cup final. After scoring 239 for 8, New Zealand bowled out their fancied opponents for 221.
England, on the other hand, registered a contrasting win over defending champions Australia. The hosts thrashed Australia by eight wickets. They bowled out Australia for just 223 before chasing it down inside 33 overs by losing just a couple of wickets.
How’s the weather expected to be?
The weather has been one of the biggest talking points of this World Cup and thus all the eyes are on the weather before the mega clash. Well, the weather forecast is very promising. According to AccuWeather, the chances of rainfall are zero percent throughout the day in London. The cloud cover will be in the higher 40s in the first half of the game and will then increase. As far as the temperature is concerned, it will hover between 18-21 degree Celsius.
