They are known to be old foes. Former international cricketers Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi have had clashes on the field in the past over cricketing reasons. After turning expert commentators, too, they have had their conflicting opinions. Even on non-cricketing issues, the two no-mincing-words individuals have locked horns. And now, the two have featured in the latest episode of crossing swords and it is over the Indian government’s abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution that accorded a special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the move earlier in August that led to a wide-spread reaction. Pakistan was livid with this step taken by India and the country’s government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan has stepped up all efforts to corner India on this issue internationally, although with little success.
A number of cricketers in Pakistan – both past and present – too have spoken out against the Indian government’s decision. Former Pakistan captain Afridi has been vocal on the topic and on Tuesday, too, he took to Twitter to express his mind. Backing PM Khan’s call to attend an event on the Pakistani side of Kashmir.
Afridi tweeted saying, “Let’s respond to PM call for Kashmir Hour as a nation. I will be at Mazar e Quaid at 12 pm on Friday. Join me to express solidarity with our Kashmiri brethren. On 6 Sep I will visit home of a Shaheed. I will soon be visiting LOC.”

Gambhir ordered kids’ tutorials to help Afridi
Afridi’s expression did not go down well with Gambhir. Currently an MP from the ruling BJP, the former Delhi cricketer slammed the Pakistan cricketer and even went to the extent of alleging that the latter refuses to mature. He also mocked the Pakistani saying he is ordering kids’ tutorials to help Afridi out.
Guys, in this picture Shahid Afridi is asking Shahid Afridi that what should Shahid Afridi do next to embarrass Shahid Afridi so that’s it’s proven beyond all doubts that Shahid Afridi has refused to mature!!! Am ordering online kindergarten tutorials for help @SAfridiOfficial pic.twitter.com/uXUSgxqZwK

Gambhir also said that if Afridi was for politicizing every issue, then why doesn’t he join politics. “Some people do not mature for their entire life. Some people play cricket but their age does not increase. Along with age, the brain also does not improve. If they are so fond of politicizing every issue, then why don’t they join politics? However, even politics needs people with a brain – which he does not have,” said Gambhir as quoted by Times Now.
