Liam Livingstone, the England batsman, had to bear the brunt of the crowd when he was playing in the final of the 2020-21 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground. The 27-year-old played for the Perth Scorchers in their match against the Sydney Sixers on Saturday, February 6 where he scored 45 runs and couldn’t pick up a wicket.
The Sixers won the match by 27 runs. During the course of the game at the renowned venue, the SCG crowd tried to get under his skins. Livingstone stated that he mostly fields on the boundary, but he hardly pays heed to the noises from the audience.

“I’ve spent my whole time on the boundary so I haven’t spoken to anyone,” a mic’ed up Livingstone was quoted as saying to the commentators, reported by India Today.
Livingstone mentioned that the crowd questioned his credentials as far as playing for England is concerned. “I was told if I was any good I’d be in India [for England’s tour of India], which is a fair point,” he stated.
The Three Lions, led by Joe Root, are currently busy playing in the four-match Test series against India. The opening Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium is currently underway with the Brits on the driver’s seat after Root’s double ton.
As far as Livingstone is concerned, he had a decent campaign in the BBL. In 14 matches, he scored 426 runs at an average and strike-rate of 30.42 and 133.96 respectively. He started the tournament with a few low scores after which he stepped on the gas.
He also picked up five wickets with his slow leg-breaks at an economy rate of 8.50. Livingstone has already gotten the taste of international cricket. Back in June 2017, he played two T20Is against South Africa in Taunton and Cardiff respectively.
In two games, he scored 16 runs after which he lost his place from the team. Overall in T20s, he has played 128 games in which he has racked up 3133 runs at an average and strike-rate of 27.48 and 140.36 respectively.
