The much-awaited four-match Test series between India and Australia is all set to begin from December 17 in Adelaide. It would be the chance to begin some cricket rivalries, and in the same light, Australian star pacer Pat Cummins feels ‘fresh’ ahead of the big contest against Virat Kohli and company. Virat Kohli would be plying his trade only in one Test and would set foot for India after the same.

It would be difficult for India to maintain the rhythm in absence of skipper Kohli. Pat Cummins recently stated that he is happy about the fact that he doesn’t have to bowl his teammate Steve Smith this time as that in IPL. He said that he is looking forward to some classic rivalries on the field as those are the moments he enjoys the most.

When you are in the moment, you try and maybe lift the rivalry with opposition batsman: Cummins

“I’m happy I don’t have to bowl to Steve smith. I saw Kane Williamson’s double hundred last week. So, I’m pretty glad I’m not playing there (in New Zealand) as well. I think when you are in the moment, you try and maybe lift (the rivalry with the opposition batsman) a little bit. You sense it at the wicket when someone walks out there,” said Cummins in a conference call as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Cummins added that he likes to face challenges on the field because these are the moments people don’t want to miss out. He quoted the classic example of Brian Lara and Glenn McGrath by adding that people knew something was going to happen when they faced each other on the field.

“In terms of how it affects the overall storyline, I don’t think about it too much. But growing up as kids, they are the kind of contests that you tuned into TV. I remember (Glenn) McGrath bowling to (Brian) Lara; you had to watch it because you knew something was going to happen. I like being in those moments, let’s see what happens this summer,” concluded Cummins.
