Bharat Arun, the bowling coach of the Indian cricket team, has praised the performance of his team’s bowlers irrespective of the pitch factors going against them. The Indian lads have shown a superb skillet of their traits against South Africa that helped them to win the first Test of their home season series in Visakhapatnam.
In the opening match of the Test series, Mohammed Shami soared above the expectations on a slow and low track. In first innings, Ashwin took 7 wickets whereas Shami was the hero with the ball in the second innings in which he went onto to take his 5th fifer in international cricket.
The Indian bowling attack has decently improved since the 56-year-old has taken charge of coaching. India is currently on the top to take most international wickets across all the formats and in an interview given to the reporters Arun has shown some serious confidence in his Indian wards.
Indian bowling coach is happy with the performance of his bowlers
In the recent interview, Arun expressed that they are the number one team in the world and don’t ask for any excuses, “We don’t ask for the kind of wickets we get. For us to be the number one team in the world, we’ve got to accept and play on any wicket that’s on offer. Even when we go abroad, we hardly look at the wicket.
Ideally, a normal wear and tear wicket for the Test match is fine but if you want to be No. 1 team in the world, you can’t be looking at wickets. You got to look at the bowling, adapt your bowling instantaneously for success,” the bowling coach said as quoted by The Times of India (TOI).
As per his intellect, it is the skill-sets of the bowlers that make them survive in international cricket irrespective of the situations. “When we go abroad, we hardly look at the wicket. We say that we are going to look at it as home conditions as the wicket (track) are the same for both teams. We are going to work on our bowling rather than looking at the wicket,” Indian coach added.
India is currently on the top in ICC Test ranking as well as topping the table of Test Championship, after winning all the encounters in the longer format of this game. They are scheduled to play two more matches against South Africa out of which the 2nd Test will kick-off from 10th October in Pune.
