The 3-match ODI series between India and Australia will kick start on Tuesday at the Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. It will be the first time in nearly 13 years that both India and Australia teams will clash off in any International match at the Wankhede.
With star players present in both the squads, the series expected to offer high-quality battles. India will be looking to narrow the gap between them and England in ODI rankings while a series win for Australia will put them at No.3.
All the key stats and numbers ahead of the Wankhede ODI between India and Australia:
2 – India lost both the ODI matches they played at the Wankhede Stadium since the start of 2012. They lost to South Africa by 214 runs in 2015 and against New Zealand in 2017 by 6 wickets.
2-1 – Australia won two of the three ODI matches they played at the Wankhede Stadium. They defeated the home team by 16 and 77 runs respectively in 1996 and 2003 but lost by 2 wickets during the ODI played in 2007.
8 – Number of hundreds for Virat Kohli in ODI cricket against Australia; the 2nd most by any player behind Sachin Tendulkar (9). Kohli scored three centuries against them across nine matches in 2019.
87.9 – Virat Kohli has a batting average of 87.9 in International cricket at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He has scored 879 runs from 13 innings with two hundreds and six fifties here. Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka (1258) and ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vizag (879) are the other venues where Kohli aggregated 800+ runs in International cricket.
Kohli’s centuries at this venue – 235 vs England in 2016 Test and 121 vs New Zealand in 2017 ODI are the highest individual scores in respective formats for India at Wankhede.
96 – Pat Cummins has bagged 96 wickets in his 58-match ODI career thus far. Cummins will be the 3rd fastest Australian to 100 ODI wickets if he claims a 4-fer in his next match. He will be the joint 3rd quickest for Australia if he takes two matches for picking up the four wickets.
99 – Number of wickets Kuldeep Yadav has picked up across the 56 ODIs he has played. Kuldeep will be India’s joint 2nd fastest to 100 ODI wickets if he picks up one wicket in the next ODI match he plays. Kuldeep needs one wicket in next 19 ODIs he plays for becoming the quickest Indian spinner to 100 ODI wickets.
2010 – Mitchell Starc has played only once in an ODI on Indian soil – against India in 2010 at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vizag. It was Starc’s debut game in ODI format and was also the ODI debut of Shikhar Dhawan.
2037 – Rohit Sharma is one of the three players with 2000+ runs in ODI matches between India and Australia. Only Sachin Tendulkar (3077) and Ricky Ponting (2164) are ahead of Rohit in this list. The current Indian opener has aggregated 2037 runs against the Aussies from 37 innings with 7 centuries and 8 fifties. Rohit scored a fifty in each of his last three ODI innings against Australia.

4990 – David Warner needs 10 more runs for completing 5000 runs in ODI cricket. Warner will be the 4th quickest to milestone if he scores those 10 runs in his next inning. He will also be the fastest to 5000 ODI runs among Australians even if he takes 13 innings for scoring those 10 runs.
8944 – Runs Rohit Sharma has aggregated in his ODI career across 214 innings thus far. If Rohit scores those 56 runs in this series, he will become the 3rd fastest to 9000 ODI runs after Virat Kohli (194) and AB de Villiers (205).
Rohit needs 33 more runs to complete 7000 runs as an opener in this format as he scored 6977 runs while opening the innings thus far. He will also complete 10000 runs as an opening batsman in International cricket if he scores 234 more runs.
