India sealed the 3-match ODI series against Australia by 2-1 margin with a comfortable win in the decider on Sunday. Steve Smith’s 132-ball 131 helped Australia to post 286/9 in their 50 overs on what looked like a slow track. Rohit Sharma put India on the top by scoring the first century for India in this calendar year. He struck 14 boundaries in his 119 off 128 balls and shared a 137-run 2nd wicket partnership with Virat Kohli (89). India completed the chase with 15 balls to spare as Shreyas Iyer scored an unbeaten 44 off 35 balls.

11208 – Runs Virat Kohli aggregated as captain in International Cricket; the most runs by an Indian skipper across all the three international formats. Kohli, in this process, went past MS Dhoni’s tally of 11207 runs.

49.27 – Rohit Sharma’s batting average in ODI cricket reads 49.27 after the Bangalore ODI; the highest batting average he achieved in this format. His previous best average was 49.19 after the hundred against Sri Lanka in the last year’s World Cup.
119 – Rohit’s 119 on Sunday was the smallest knock among his 11 ODI centuries on Indian soil. His 125-run knock in the 2017 Nagpur ODI also against Australia was his previous smallest ODI hundred at home. The remaining nine ODI tons in India by Rohit have been 140+ scores.
Kohli stands only behind Sachin:
7024 – Virat Kohli completed 7000 runs while chasing in ODI cricket. He is only the 2nd player with 7000 runs in ODI chases after Sachin Tendulkar who aggregated 8720 runs while chasing in ODI cricket.
9 – Number of player of the series award for Virat in ODI cricket; the joint 3rd most for any player behind Sachin Tendulkar (15) and Sanath Jayasuriya (11). Kohli is currently leveled with Shaun Pollock (9) and has gone past Chris Gayle (8) in this list.
100 – The 89-run knock in Bangalore was Virat Kohli’s 100th fifty-plus score in ODI cricket. He is only the 5th player to smash 100 fifty-plus scores and the 2nd from India after Sachin Tendulkar (145).
A rare Indian keeper to open the innings:
2011 – The last Indian wicketkeeper to open the batting in an ODI before KL Rahul was Parthiv Patel in the 2011 Ahmedabad ODI against West Indies. Parthiv opened the batting on four occasions in Test cricket in these nine years.
ODI milestones for Smith, Rohit and Kohli:
9115 – Rohit Sharma completed 9000 runs in this game and became the 3rd fastest (217 innings) to reach this milestone after Virat Kohli (194 innings) and AB de Villiers (205 innings).
5072 – Kohli also became only the 8th captain to aggregate 5000 ODI runs as captain. He completed this milestone in only 82 innings; the fastest to get there.
106 – Steve Smith completed 4000 runs in ODI cricket taking 106 innings; the joint 4th quickest Australian to reach this milestone. David Warner (93) is the only Australian to reach 4000 ODI runs in less than 100 innings.
131 – Smith’s 131-run knock is now the 3rd highest individual ODI score in Bangalore behind Rohit Sharma’s 209 against the Aussies in 2013 and Andrew Strauss’ 158 against India during the 2011 CWC match.

4 – Adam Zampa has dismissed Rohit Sharma on four instances in ODI cricket; most times Rohit got out to a spin bowler in this format. During the Rajkot ODI, Zampa dismissed Virat Kohli for the 5th time, the most dismissals for Virat against a spin bowler.
Starc gets a promotion:
5 – For the first time in his International career, Mitchell Starc got to bat as high as No.5. He got promoted up the order to tackle left-arm spin but fell for a 3-ball duck. Only twice before Starc has batted in the top seven at this level.
He came at No.7 in the 2017 Sydney ODI against Pakistan but didn’t face a ball. During the 2nd innings of the Abu Dhabi Test against Pakistan in 2018, Starc had to come at No.7 as Usman Khawaja was absent hurt.
