India and Australia are currently fighting it out in the second ODI of the three-match series in Rajkot. The hosts, after losing the toss, have managed to post a strong total of 340 runs on the board after 50 overs courtesy half-centuries from Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul. However, they needed a good start with the ball to have any chance of keeping the series alive. And that was provided by none other than Manish Pandey with his brilliance in the field.
Pandey was finally included in the line-up to replace Rishabh Pant and though he couldn’t score much with the bat, the Karnataka player made an immediate impact on the field. In the fourth over of the innings, Mohammed Shami dished out a delivery with plenty of width to David Warner.
The southpaw, with an intent to pounce on the chance, rocked on the back foot and looked to slash it over the off-side. The ball hit the middle of the bat and the timing on it was also superb but Warner did the mistake of playing the shot close to Manish Pandey who was fielding at cover-point.
He jumped his timing to perfection and managed to grab a stunner even as the ball was travelling at the rate of knots. Rather it happened in a split second and stupendous reaction from Pandey even left David Warner stunned who walked back to the hut with a smile on his face.

India pile on runs in Rajkot
Earlier in the day, India didn’t repeat the mistakes they committed in Mumbai and most importantly, Virat Kohli batted at number three. Dhawan carried his affair with Australia in the ODIs and slammed 96 runs. He was unfortunate not to get to the three-figure mark. But his innings set the platform with even Kohli also scoring 78 runs. However, KL Rahul injected the much-needed life into the innings batting at five.
He took on the Aussie bowlers with authority and made 80 runs off just 52 deliveries. It was his knock that India managed to score 340 runs for the loss of six wickets. Adam Zampa was the best bowler for the visitors who returned with impressive figures of 3/50 in his 10 overs.
