After India and Bangladesh played 1st T20I of the three-match series in bad air quality in the national capital, now there are reports that the second contest, which is scheduled to take place in Rajkot on 7th of November might land in trouble due to the threats of the cyclone.
The name of the cyclonic wind is “Maha” that can bring heavy rainfall on the date of the match and around it. The weather forecast authorities have issued the warning for the people and farmers in order to be prepared for it or any natural calamity.
Rajkot T20I between India and Bangladesh could be derailed
The regional IMD (India Meteorological Department) director Jayanta Sarkar said that the cyclonic storm “Maha” started 580 kilometres away in the southwest could intensify the situations and is expected that it can bring high rainfall in some areas. The winds can blow at a high rate of 120 kilometers per hour.
“Severe cyclonic storm Maha lay centered at 580 kilometres southwest of Diu and 550 km southwest of Veraval. It is most likely to intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm and make landfall between Dwarka and Diu on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning with wind speeds of 120 kilometres per hour,” Jayanta Sarkar said as quoted by Indian Express.
He also recited that if the forecast is right, then there are big chances that it will rule out the second T20I match. Sarkar also feels that cyclone will hit the state on and around the 6th or 7th of November. Currently, the cyclonic wind “Maha” is moving towards Oman but it can take a shift towards the Gujarat coast. “The storm will cause heavy to very heavy rains in Saurashtra and south Gujarat on November 6-7. It is moving towards Oman but will recurve towards the Gujarat coast on Monday,” the director added.
After the news of cyclone broke, the Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle took to his Twitter handle, in order to raise his concerns ahead of 2nd T20I and wrote, “And now, with a game in Rajkot ahead, news of a cyclone on the West coast on Nov 06/07 with a danger alert issued to fishermen on the Saurashtra coast. Hope it isn’t dangerous for the people living there. The weather has been most unpredictable this year.”
