India have won their second consecutive Test against England in the four-match series. They have now taken the lead of 2-1 in the series. England had set a target of 49 runs against the hosts in the fourth innings of the third Test match. India chased down this total very comfortably by winning the Test by 10 wickets.
Earlier in the day, India continued their second innings from the first day’s score of 99/3. However, Indian batsmen could not spend much time on the crease as they were bowled out for 145 runs. The hosts took a lead of 33 runs in the first innings.
In the second innings, visitors were completely bamboozled by Indian spinners. They were all out for only 81 runs. Axar Patel was awarded player of the match for his wonderful bowling in the Test.

400 – Ravichandran Ashwin became the second-fastest bowler to complete 400 Test wickets. Ashwin has achieved this milestone in 77 Tests, while Muttiah Muralitharan who is at the top achieved this feat in only 72 Tests.
4 – Ashwin has become the fourth Indian bowler to complete 400 wickets in the Test career. Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, and Harbhajan Singh are the other bowlers.
Virat surpasses Dhoni
22 – Virat Kohli has now become the most successful Indian captain in home Tests. He surpassed MS Dhoni in terms of most home Test wins as captain. Virat now has 22 wins as captain ahead of Dhoni’s tally of 21 victories.
Records galore for Axar Patel
11 – Axar Patel with figures of 11/70 in the match registered the best bowling performance by a bowler in a Day-Night Test. He became the third bowler after Pat Cummins and Devendra Bishoo to pick a 10-wicket haul in a Day-Night Test.
3 – Axar Patel picked up his third consecutive fifer, and became the fourth Indian bowler to take 3 consecutive fifers. Harbhajan Singh with 4 consecutive 5-wicket hauls is at the top.
18 – The left-arm spinner has taken 18 wickets till now in his career. Among Indian bowlers with the most Test wickets in the first 2 Tests of the career, Axar is at second position after Narendra Hirwani (24 wickets).
2 – Axar is also the second Indian bowler after Narendra Hirwani to pick 3 fifers in the first 2 Tests of the career.
4 – Axar Patel took a wicket off the first ball of England’s second innings. He became just the fourth spinner to achieve this feat.
Joe Root’s magic with the ball
2– Joe Root picked up 5 wickets just for 8 runs. He registered second-best bowling figures in a Test innings by a visiting captain in India.
4 – Root’s figures are also the fourth-best by an English captain in Test history.
Ashwin gets better of Stokes yet again
11 – Ravichandran Ashwin has now dismissed Ben Stokes 11 times in Test cricket, the most he has dismissed any player in the longest format. Ashwin has got the better of David Warner 10 times in Tests.
England’s dismal show with the bat
81 – England’s total of 81 runs in the second innings is their lowest ever innings total in India. This is also their third-lowest total in Asia.

28 – A total of 28 wickets were picked by spinners in the Test match. This is the record for most wickets taken by spinners in a Day-Night Test.
