The second One Day International between two cricketing superpowers, India and England saw a high-scoring clash as both the teams made the most out of the flat pitch of the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune but the visitors managed to have the last laugh as they emerged victorious by 6 wickets to level the three-match series by 1-1.
Meanwhile, the match also hogged the limelight as it is learned that the Pimpri Chinchwad Police has arrested as many as 33 bookies after they were found guilty for betting on the second ODI between India and England. The Pimpri police had gotten a hint regarding a few individuals, who were involved in a betting racket, watching the match live from somewhere near the stadium as the presence of the spectators wasn’t allowed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
After receiving the information, police immediately came into the action as they quickly raided three spots near the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune and spotted a few individuals watching the game with the help of high-resolution cameras and binoculars.

The Police Commissioner for Pimpri Chinchwad organized a press conference to reveal the details of the whole matter as he asserted that the department has been successful in arresting 33 accused out of which five are from Madhya Pradesh, 13 from Haryana, 11 from Maharashtra, 2 from Rajasthan, 1 from Goa, and 1 from Uttar Pradesh.
The police also found the cash and other valuable items worth INR 45 lakhs with the accused and will be carrying out a proper investigation on the whole matter. “We have arrested 33 accused including five from Madhya Pradesh, 13 from Haryana, 11 from Maharashtra, 2 from Rajasthan, 1 from Goa, and 1 from Uttar Pradesh.
“Recovery of material and cash worth Rs 45 lakhs has been made including 74 mobile phones, three laptops, one Tablet, eight high-resolution cameras, binoculars and cash along with some foreign currency. The accused had also attacked the police team when they were raided but police thwarted their attack and all of them have been arrested,” the police commissioner said while interacting with the media
