From the last few years, the rumours of an alleged rift between India skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been doing the rounds constantly. The rumours first surfaced during the 2017 Champions Trophy and during last year’s IPL and when Rohit decided to head to India instead of going to Australia with the team.
But time and again, the batting stars have proved that everything is well between them with their actions. Recently, Rohit congratulated Kohli and his wife on their birth of their first child. And on Saturday, it was Kohli’s turn to show that all is well between him and his teammate. The India skipper came up with an incredible gesture after Rohit hit a four on day one of the ongoing second Test against England.
Kohli was seen applauding Rohit after the latter hit the first four of India’s innings. Batting first, India got their first boundary in the third over when the opening batsman played a trademark cover drive off Stuart Broad to open his account. It was an overpitched delivery outside the off stump from Broad and Rohit made sure to give the delivery the treatment it deserved.
And as soon as he hit the four, the cameras turned towards the dressing room where Kohli was seen shouting ‘yes boy’ while applauding the shot. The crowd, who have been allowed to watch the game from the stand, liked the shot too as they too cheered on.

India make a mixed start:
Talking about the game, India were on 47 for 1 in the 12th over at the time of writing this report. The hosts were off to a poor start as Olly Stone sent back Shubman Gill for a duck in his very first over before Rohit and Cheteshwar Pujara steadied the ship. Rohit Sharma has looked in good touch so far and was batting on 41 off just 42 deliveries. He has already hit 6 fours and a six.
The right-handed batsman would be looking to score big after a string of failures in Tests. Rohit has not hit a century since the series against South Africa in 2019 when he was promoted as an opener for the first time.
