Wasim Jaffer has given a fitting reply to Michael Vaughan after the latter taunted the former India opener on Friday (March 12). It all started when Vaughan took to Twitter to take a dig at Team India following their poor performance with the bat in the first T20I against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
India came up with a disastrous batting display in the series-opener as they managed to score just 124 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. India’s top three – Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli – could not even touch the double-digit mark as India were reduced to 20 for 3 in five overs. At one stage, it looked like the hosts would not touch the 100-run mark.
However, a fighting knock of 67 from Shreyas Iyer helped India post a respectable total. And as India struggled with the bat, Vaughan took to Twitter to post a cheeky comment. The former England skipper took a dig at Team India as he called IPL champions Mumbai Indians a better team than the Virat Kohli-led side.
The @mipaltan are a better T20 team than @BCCI !!! #JustSaying #INDvENG

Wasim Jaffer’s reply to Michael Vaughan
Wasim Jaffer, who is fast becoming one of the most cricketers on Twitter, decided to reply to Vaughan’s distasteful tweet about Team India. The former batsman’s reply became an instant hit as he wrote: “Not all teams are lucky enough to play four overseas players Michael.”
Jaffer’s tweet was pointing out the four overseas players rule in the IPL. His tweet was also an indirect dig at the England team which is filled with players from several nationalities.
Have you still not recovered from me getting you out at Lords !?? https://t.co/K1Us0ci7Yo

Vaughan then went on to extend the banter. Reminding Jaffer of the match when he had dismissed him at Lord’s, the England legend tweeted: “Have you still not recovered from me getting you out at Lords !??”. It was the 2002 Lord’s Test when part-timer Vaughan managed to dismiss Jaffer. Before his dismissal, Jaffer had scored 53.
And on Saturday, Jaffer decided to reply to Vaughan’s tweet. Despite being taunted by Vaughan, the Mumbai legend simply wrote: ‘That’s just Life’s Amazing Memories Eh, Michael’.

Talking about the first T20I, England won it by eight wickets to take the lead in the five-match series. Chasing 125, the visitors crossed the finishing line in the 16th over by losing just two wickets. The second T20I is scheduled to be played on Sunday (March 12).
