South Africa have finally arrived. Their fast bowlers have rocked India early with the new ball in the ongoing Ranchi Test. Kagiso Rabada nipped out Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara while Anrich Nortje pinned Virat Kohli in front of the stumps. Rather the Indian skipper was unlucky to be given out as the ball was just clipping the leg stumps according to the Hawkeye.
No wonder Kohli was unimpressed while walking back to the dressing room. And the decision has left the Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary fuming as well. Soon after the Indian captain’s dismissal, he slammed the straight umpire Nigel Llong who adjudged Kohli leg before.
According to Tiwary, Virat Kohli should’ve been given not-out in the first place as the ball was going down the leg-side and the middle stump was visible on impact. But as he gave it out, the ball only brushing the stumps was enough for the on-field call to stay. Even the other umpire of the day, Richard Illingworth didn’t have a good start to the match.
Rohit was given out earlier before Virat Kohli
Rohit Sharma was adjudged lbw in the 11th over of the innings off Kagiso Rabada. Rather it was a pretty quick decision from Illingworth. However, the batsman had edged the ball before it hit his pads and Rohit quickly went for the DRS which saved him eventually.
Manoj Tiwary also highlighted this incident and slammed the umpiring standards in the first couple of hours of the Test match. He was surprised with the mistakes made by two of the experienced umpires in the middle.
“I would say Umpiring so far in this test has been below average to be honest by the 2 of d most experience elite umpires. Although d ball was clipping d leg stump but Umpire’s call shud had been Not out bcoz middle stump was visible on impact #INDvsSA,” he tweeted.

As far as the match is concerned, Rohit and Ajinkya Rahane are rebuilding India’s innings at the moment. Things didn’t look good for the home side at 39/3 when Virat Kohli was dismissed. But the duo has now added more than 50 runs for the fourth wicket. South Africa, on the other hand, have bowled extremely well and will be keen to make more inroads soon.
