Rajasthan Royals have lost their way after winning their initial two matches in Sharjah as they have emerged victorious in just one match out of their last seven outings. They were desperately looking for a win in the encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday, October 17 in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium but were left disappointed as the Challengers won the thrilling game by 7 wickets.
Winning the toss, Steve Smith elected to bat first. Rajasthan put up a brilliant show as they made significant changes in the batting-order which proved fruitful for the franchise. Opening the innings, Robin Uthappa and Ben Stokes aggregated 50 runs in the first five overs. Though RR looked in trouble as they were reeling at 69-3 by the end of the eighth over after losing two back-to-back wickets of Uthappa and Sanju Samson.
However, captain Smith regained his form at the correct time and took the team towards a respectable score of 177 by smashing 57 off 36 deliveries. As far as the bowling is concerned, Chahal gave a major breakthrough to his team by sending Robin and Samson back to the pavilion while Morris also took four important wickets to restrict the opposition.
AB de Villiers again did the unexpected for his team
In reply, RCB had a rocky start as they lost their opening batsman Aaron Finch within 3 overs. Skipper Kohli and left-hander Devdutt Padikkal stitched a partnership of 79 runs in the middle overs but left the team hanging at a score of 102/3 in 13.1 overs. RCB was in trouble as both the batsmen AB de Villiers and Gurkeerat Singh Mann had a slow start.
However, a terrific performance by Mr. 360 in the 19th over changed things for good. AB smashed three back-to-back sixes to Jaydev Unadkat to take the equation to 10 off last 6 balls. The wicketkeeper-batsman hit the winning six and his sensational knock of 55* off 22 proved life-saving for RCB.
At the present point in time, the team Rajasthan Royals are languishing at seventh in the points table with six points from nine matches while RCB is at third position with six wins in nine fixtures.
