SRH vs RR was a tight contest and the tilting board finally fell in Rajasthan’s favour. Rahul Tewatia and close finishes have been a perfect love story in IPL and the southpaw didn’t disappoint RR again. It looked all but over for RR but they made a stunning comeback and SRH had no answers for it. Tewatia and Riyan Parag stitched a phenomenal partnership to pull off a memorable win for them.
Earlier, SRH scored 62 runs in last five overs to finish at a decent total of 158. It also looked enough when they started on a perfect note the ball and dismissed the top 3 batsmen of RR in first five overs. However, the game ended in a dramatic fashion and SRH lost their fourth game of the season. Warner and company would like to figure out a way to win these close games and as the tournament has already reached the halfway stage, their route for playoffs is becoming rather difficult.
Here are the three mistakes committed by losing side in SRH vs RR game:-
1. Slow start with the bat
SRH’s batting is extremely dependent on their openers and the pressure of the same was evident in SRH vs RR game as well. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow looked quite cautious at the start and their defensive approach meant that SRH stood at 26 runs after 6 overs. If they would have started better, their score after 20 overs could have been better as they finished with 15-20 runs short.
2. Keeping Rashid Khan’s last over for the end
After dismissing the top 3 batsmen of RR, SRH looked extremely confident of defending the total. At the end of 12 overs, RR was struggling at 78/5 and Rashid’s figures were 2/12 after 3 overs. If Warner would have let the wrist-spinner bowl his last over to dismiss the last recognised pair, the match wouldn’t have gone so deep. Rashid bowled the 18th over and received a serious hammering from Tewatia who was already set.
3. Tried to bowl too many yorkers at the end
SRH is missing the services of their most experienced death bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Hence, their young and inexperienced pace bowlers were up for a contest against Tewatia and Parag, who were timing the ball beautifully. SRH bowlers tried to bowl too many yorkers and couldn’t get them right. Their full-tosses and rare yorkers were slammed over wicketkeeper’s head by the RR duo and they lacked plan ‘B’. If they would have tried some other tactic, the dramatic finish could have ended differently.
