The IPL Auction 2020 will take place this Thursday as the entire cricket universe is excited for the event. The fate of multiple global stars will be decided on 19th December 2019 in Kolkata as they will go under the hammer during the IPL Auction. Over the years, the fans have seen several bizarre things in the auction.
The cricket universe has witnessed the top international players going unsold while unknown players kick-starting a bidding war between the franchises. The likes of K. C. Cariappa, Varun Chakravarthy and Ishan Kishan are the best examples of this case. This year as well, a lot of uncapped talents will be a part of the auction.
Given how important it is to have a good bunch of uncapped stars, the franchises may enter a bidding war for the following 5 names:
Mumbai’s 17-year-old opening batsman, Yashasvi Jaiswal had grabbed the world’s attention during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019. The left-handed batsman became the youngest player to smash a double hundred in 50-overs cricket as he played a knock of 203 runs against Jharkhand.
Besides, he had even struck a century versus Kerala in the preceding match. This shows that the Suriya-born player has the talent to play big knocks. Though he has played little T20 cricket, he can prove to be an asset in the IPL.
Given that he plays for Mumbai at the domestic level, Mumbai Indians may look to buy him and groom Jaiswal to become the next big thing in Indian cricket. Otherwise, he could even become a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise who need a solid Indian name in the batting department.
The left-handed batsman from Bihar, Virat Singh is billed by many as the ‘Left-handed Virat’ of India. This nickname itself signifies his dominance in the domestic arena. The 22-year-old batsman is one of the few batsmen who can even bowl a few overs of leg-break googly in the middle.
Talking about his numbers in T20 cricket first, Singh has featured in 56 games, aggregating over 1,500 runs at an impressive average of 35.27. He had showcased his talent during his 76 runs knock against Karnataka in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Virat has recorded 10 half-tons in the shortest form of the game. Teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals may enter into a bidding war for him because he can be a valuable addition to the team’s middle order.
R Sai Kishore
Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore will be the player to watch out for in the IPL Auction 2020. The slow left-arm bowler had troubled a lot of batsmen with his bowling skills in the domestic tournaments. He played an important role in the success that Tamil Nadu achieved during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Sai Kishore recorded his best bowling figures of 4/6 against Tripura at Thiruvananthapuram while he took three more 3-wicket hauls in the remaining part of the tourney. The fact that he has an economy rate of 5.45 shows why he is so highly rated in the domestic circuit.
Since Kishore has been conceding runs at a miserly rate, all the teams would be interested in him. Given how he has bowled in the shortest form of the game, he could easily fit in any T20 team of the planet.
Chepauk Super Gillies’ star medium-pacer had stunned everyone by taking 5 wickets for 15 runs in the Tamil Nadu Premier League match against Dindigul Dragons. He had even taken a 3-wicket haul in the preceding match versus the same opposition.
His fantastic bowling performances earned him a call-up to the Tamil Nadu team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The 25-year-old took part in 8 matches for Tamil Nadu, picking up 8 wickets at a strike rate of 14.5. Besides, he conceded runs at an economy rate of 7.44.
Chennai Super Kings would have the utmost interest in signing Ganesan Periyaswamy because he has played a lot of cricket in Chennai. Also, they have released Mohit Sharma from their squad so, he can be a like-for-like replacement of Mohit.
Indian U-19 captain, Priyam Garg will lead the Indian U-19 team in the upcoming World Cup. Looking the way Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill have become big names in the Indian cricket world, the fans can expect Garg to join the elite list soon.
The Uttar Pradesh-born player had recently recorded a ton against Vidarbha in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He has not played in the IPL but he has some good numbers in T20 cricket.
Priyam has featured in 11 T20 matches, scoring 227 runs at a fantastic average of 28.37. His strike rate of 132.74 indicates that he can score runs quickly. Besides, he has also scored two fifties in T20 cricket thus, he would be on the wishlist of a lot of IPL teams.
