Kagiso Rabada, the South African fast bowler, was top of his game in the Qualifier 2 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Plying his trade for the Delhi Capitals (DC), he picked up four wickets and was arguably their standout bowler on Sunday, November 8. However, it was his wicket of David Warner that stood out among the rest.
Chasing 190 in their 20 overs, SRH got off to an impressive start after the openers- Warner and Priyam Garg– scored 12 runs off the first over bowled by Ravi Ashwin. To make an early breakthrough, DC skipper handed Rabada the ball in the second over. The speedster, in return, didn’t let his team and captain down by any means. He dismissed the dangerous Warner.
Kagiso Rabada showing his magic
In the very first ball, he churned out a pin-point Yorker to send the left-hander back to the hut. The delivery from Rabada jagged back into the batsman and Warner played all-around it. The southpaw tried to bring his bat down, but couldn’t counter the venom of the ball. The leather smacked his pads and ricocheted on to the stumps. Thereafter, Rabada’s happiness knew no bounds.
The Capitals understood the importance of the wicket as Warner has been a prolific run-scorer in the history of the tournament. The blow turned out to be an important one as DC ended up winning the match by 17 runs and qualified for the final for the maiden time in the IPL. In the final, they will be facing Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Rabada also chipped in with crucial wickets at the fag end of the match. He bowled his final over in the 19th over when the Sunrisers, well and truly, were in with a chance of going over the line. But he picked up the wickets of Abdul Samad, Shreevats Goswami and Rashid Khan.
He ended with figures of 4-0-29-4 at an economy rate of 7.20. Having picked up 29 wickets in the tournament, he also got the Purple Cap from Jasprit Bumrah, who has 27 wickets to his name. It remains to be seen who ends up being the leading wicket-taker.
