Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have managed to go to the second spot in the points table in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team, captained by Virat Kohli, beat the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Apart from losing the toss, nothing went wrong for the Challengers as they restricted the Knights to 84 in their 20 overs. KKR lost far too many wickets upfront and registered their lowest ever score in the powerplay in the history of the T20 extravaganza.
Eoin Morgan’s 30 and Lockie Ferguson’s 19* mitigated some damage but weren’t enough for KKR to recover. The Challengers chased the target down with as many as 39 deliveries to spare. For the Knights, they stayed at the fifth spot in the table, but have loads of loopholes to fill.
Here are the RCB Player Ratings for the KKR vs RCB match:
Devdutt Padikkal- 7/10
Devdutt Padikkal looked fluent in his brief stay in the middle. The southpaw scored 25 runs off 17 balls at a strike-rate of 147.05. His knock came to an end after Pat Cummins ran him out.
Aaron Finch- 5.5/10
Aaron Finch couldn’t make much of an impact. The Australian limited-overs captain scored 16 runs off 21 balls at a strike-rate of 76.19. It was Lockie Ferguson, who pinned the batter in the seventh over.
Gurkeerat Singh Mann- 6/10
Gurkeerat Singh Mann smashed four fours and stayed unbeaten until the very end. But he took 21 runs to get those runs at a strike-rate of 80.76. That he didn’t get out will give him some confidence.
Virat Kohli- 7/10
Virat Kohli scored only 18 runs off 17 balls, but he didn’t have much to do as RCB were on the cusp of victory. The Challengers’ skipper stayed unbeaten and smacked a couple of glorious boundaries.
AB de Villiers- N/A
Chris Morris- 8/10
Chris Morris couldn’t get a wicket, but he didn’t allow the Knight Riders’ bowlers to get on top of him as well. In four overs, the speedster conceded only 16 runs at a rate of four with one maiden over.
Washington Sundar- 8.5
Washington Sundar has been economical and he didn’t disappoint this time around as well. In his four overs, the off-break bowler bowled a maiden and gave away 14 runs. He also dismissed Eoin Morgan.
Isuru Udana- 6/10
Isuru Udana didn’t have much to do. The Sri Lankan fast bowler bowled only a solitary over and he gave away only six runs. The left-arm seamer gave away one four, but also churned out three dot balls.
Navdeep Saini- 7/10
Navdeep Saini bowled reasonably as well. He was hit for two fours and as many sixes, but he bowled at an economy of 7.66. The speedster bowled 11 dot balls and picked up the wicket of Shubman Gill.
Yuzvendra Chahal- 9/10
Yuzvendra Chahal had a decent day with the ball in hand. He got the crucial wicket of Pat Cummins and Dinesh Karthik, who both could have caused a lot of damage at the death. Chahal bowled at 3.75.
Mohammed Siraj- 9.5/10
Mohammed Siraj replaced Shahbaz Ahmed in the eleven and he was on top of his game. In four overs, he gave away eight runs, including two maidens. He dismissed Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, and Tom Banton.
