The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is gearing up for a thrilling start with the opening game between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI). With the T20 Extravaganza around the corner, the official broadcasters of IPL, Star Sports have announced the list of hosts and anchors.
IPL 2021, which is scheduled to start from April 9 in Chennai, will be hosted behind closed doors without the presence of fans due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The 52-day tournament will be played across six cities namely Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
Just like the previous season, this time too, the Star Sports Network holds the sole right of broadcasting and streaming all the matches in eight different languages including the likes of English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, and Marathi.
To make the tournament more interesting and exciting for the fans, Star Sports has selected an elite panel of presenters and hosts for the T20 Championship. Few notable names in the marquee list include the likes of Jatin Sapru, Jasprit Bumrah’s wife Sanjana Ganesan, Kira Narayanan, Neroli Meadows, and many more.
List of IPL T20 TV presenters and hosts:
Kira Narayanan, Jatin Sapru, Neroli Meadows, Anant Tyagi, Suren Sundaram, Dheeraj Juneja, Bhavna Balakrishnan, Nashpreet Kaur, Suhail Chandhok, Anubhav Jain, Radhakrishnan Sreenivasan, Sanjana Ganesan, Muthuraman R, M Anand Srikrishna, Vindhya Medapatti, Neha Chowdry, Reena Dsouza, Kiran Srinivasa, Madhu Mailankody and Tanya Purohit.
Mayanti Langer to miss IPL 2021 too
One of the notable omissions from the list is of Mayanti Langer. Mayanti is a known face in the cricket fraternity and has hosted a lot of cricket tournaments across the globe. However, Langer has decided to miss IPL 2021 too after not featuring in the IPL 2020, hosted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The main reason behind the same is that the presenter gave birth to a baby boy and wished to spend some more time with him.
“I’ve had what we call a pandemic pregnancy and my baby is a pandemic baby. I had to be completely isolated since I was in the high-risk category during my pregnancy, so as of now I am not thinking about a career or going back to work,” Langer told Hindustan Times last month.
