Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a couple of months away from kicking off and the fans are eagerly waiting for its commencement. There is no doubt over the fact that the upcoming season of this T20 tournament will be more enthralling and competitive. And, ahead of the IPL 2020, the BCCI has introduced the new rules and a charity game in the Governing Council meeting which took place on Monday.

IPL is heading towards its 13th successive season that will begin from March 29. Mumbai Indians will defend their title against other seven teams. In the previous IPL, there were several controversies raised over poor umpiring during the games over misjudgment of no-ball. So, this year IPL governing council has come out with a solution over the same that might minimise the chances of error in the games by having a specific umpire to spot the no-balls.

BCCI in a quest to make IPL 2020 more interesting

Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI President, has confirmed that the upcoming season will have concussion substitute. As per the rule, if a bowler, batsman or fielder suffers a concussion then teams can replace that injured player during the game. But, that replacement will have to be approved by the match referee and it should be a like-for-like replacement. He also recited that the no-ball rule is another new addition for IPL 2020.

The former Indian cricketer also informed the fans that there will be an All-star game that will take place three days prior to the actual commencement of the tournament. As per the reports, there will be one team formed taking the players from the franchises that are based in the northern and eastern part of the country i-e- Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders.

The other team that will be formed with players from Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians. However, the availability of the players and the venue of the game is still not decided. “The concussion substitute and the no-ball rule are new additions for the season. It will be an IPL All-Stars Game three days before the start of IPL,” Sourav Ganguly said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
