The economic state of India has not been good amidst the global pandemic. The Prime Minister launched a relief fund, named Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund or PM-CARES fund. Since the launching of the fund, several celebrities have come and contributed to the cause. The funds received will be utilised in providing poor people with all the necessities. The funds will also help India boost its medical facilities to combat the COVID-19 threat.
On Wednesday, Indian pacer Ishant Sharma uploaded a picture on Twitter claiming that he along with his wife, Pratima Singh, have contributed to the PM-CARES Fund. Sharma is one of the few Indian cricketers who have come along to support the nation during the crisis.
Though the attempts of not disclosing the amount were made by Ishant, our team understood that the amount donated by the couple is INR 20 lakh. The information was extracted after reviewing the screenshots which were attached to the tweet posted by the Delhi pacer.

“In the light of the current #COVID-19 Crisis, @PratimaSinghBB and I are humbled to contribute to the #PMCARES fund! All of us stand together in battling the global pandemic! We did our part and request you to do the same. Small donations make a big difference! #IndiaFightsCorona” the tweet read.
Pratima Singh, the wife of Ishant Sharma, is a member of the Indian Women’s basketball team. She is a member of a family which has produced five basketball players who have gone on to represent the country.

Ishant Sharma was contracted to play for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020. With no clarity on when the tournament would start, Sharma is spending time at home. Having picked up 297 wickets in 97 Tests, Ishant is nearing a career milestone.
If and when he gets 300 wickets, he will become only the third Indian pacer to get to the landmark after Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan. He would also become the second fast-bowler after Kapil Dev to play more than 100 Tests. But, to achieve the feat, Ishant may have to wait a bit. India’s next assignment is quite far. Considering the global pandemic, it seems unlikely that we would see the speedster playing anytime soon.
