IPL 2020 is scheduled to begin from 29th of March and the inaugural game will be played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This is going to be the 13th season of the cash-rich league and all the eight franchises have begun with their preparations ahead of the tournament.
Meanwhile, there were some voices that said the IPL might get postponed due to Coronavirus threat but that has not been the case. The important fact is that BCCI has taken the disease quite seriously and are set to take all preventive measures to avoid it.
Sourav Ganguly opens up on Coronavirus ahead of IPL 2020
Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian skipper, and BCCI chief said that the 13th edition of Indian Premier League is on and will get kicked off as per the schedule. He also added the fact that the board has taken all the preventive measures to protect the league from the same, “It’s on…and BCCI will take all protection.” Sourav Ganguly said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
The cricketing countries are quite aware of the effects of coronavirus due to which they have taken some major steps. Recently, ECB announced that the England cricket team players, who are on their tour to Sri Lanka for playing a two-match Test series will not shake hands with their opponent but will greet each other with fist bumps.
On the other hand, several global sporting events have been postponed their dates and games due to the outbreak of the virus. The important fact about the disease is that the research is still going in the laboratories to find a curable aid in order to protect people from the virus that has taken the lives of thousands of people.
