The former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has kept himself busy on social media during the quarantine days. He has been interviewing cricketers on Instagram in a live session and on Friday, he had a special person and his dear friend online. He was none other than Virat Kohli as the duo recalled the times when they played together in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and also spoke about the different aspects of life.
While Pietersen got Kohli to talk about various other things in his career as well, the former English international was especially interested in how and why did the 31-year-old turn vegan. England‘s 2009 T20 World Cup winner told Kohli how he still remembers the Virat Kohli of 2009 when he used to be non-vegatarian and was a lot chubby than he is now.
The Indian skipper then told his friend that he had a cervical spine problem during India’s 2018 tour of South Africa and had no feels in his little finger. Kohli went on to reveal that he had a completely acidic stomach and his body was taking the lacking calcium from his bones. This was the reason his body had become weak and this is when he decided stop eating meat which he terms as the best decision in his life.
I had literally no feels in my little finger, says Virat Kohli
“I had literally no feel in my little fingers. It was also realised that I had an acidic stomach and the calcium was being pulled from the bones. I stopped eating meat and I never felt better. I can now play two Tests matches with little gap at 120 per cent intensity. It has been the best decision of my life. I feel like I should have turned vegan two-three years back itself,” Virat Kohli told Pietersen during the friendly chat.
Meanwhile, speaking about the ongoing crisis i.e.. the Coronavirus Pandemic which has led to India and most of the other countries going under the lockdown, Virat Kohli said that he is just grateful for having for all the comforts in his life.
“I am grateful God that I have a place to live at a time when people are struggling for jobs. You just want to sit back and reflect. You are filled with gratitude. We should never sit back and complain about what we don’t have,” he said.
