The Jaffna Stallions have started their campaign in the Lanka Premier League on a grand note. After edging past the Galle Gladiators in a closely-fought affair, they were pretty comprehensive against the Dambulla Viiking.
Their skipper Thisara Perera notched his highest T20 score and also delivered with the ball in hand, taking them to the top of the points table with a decent net run rate of 1.626. In their previous game, they defeated the Viiking by 66 runs after posting 219 on the board.
In their third game, they would be up against the Kandy Tuskers in the second of Tuesday’s doubleheader at the Mahinda Rajapaksha Stadium in Hambantota. The Tuskers, on the other hand, got back to winning ways, beating the Galle Gladiators, who lost their third match in a row, by 25 runs.
Pitch and Conditions
The pitch in Hambantota has been a batting paradise thus far in the tournament. Scores over the 200-run mark have been pretty much the norm until now. Bowlers won’t be having much room for error by any means.
The dew factor in the second if is most likely to make things tougher for the bowlers. There will be 20 per cent chances of rain the temperature around 27 degrees Celsius.

Probable Top Performers for JAF vs KAN
Shoaib Malik– Jaffna Stallions
Shoaib Malik has loads of potential and experience on his shoulders. In the first game, he took the singles and doubles and gave Avishka Fernando the strike.
However, in the second match, he got out after scoring 23 runs and he should be disappointed after not being able to carry on with his innings. The veteran has the potential to step up and deliver when his team next take the field in Hambantota.
Kusal Mendis– Kandy Tuskers
Kusal Mendis has a truckload of potential on his shoulders. He can put his head down in crisis and hardly throws his wicket away in critical situations. Thus far, he is the leading run-scorer for the Tuskers.
In three games, the youngster has 113 runs at an average and strike-rate of 56.50 and 141.25 respectively. It goes without saying that the Tuskers would again be looking up to him.
